Helen has over 30 years care sector experience with a wide array of ages and complex needs. This included 8 years in specialist education, managing work and independence schemes, and team quality assurance, plus 4 years delivering apprenticeship diplomas. Helen has been a Training Lead in several care companies and branches and has been teaching and training for 17 years, with a Masters degree in Psychology, with distinction, and a L4 teaching qualification.

Engage Training offers an original ‘Care sector for Workers New to the UK’ course which Helen is in a unique position to teach. She has many years of successful cultural training for workers arriving from overseas. She has excellent cultural understanding and confidence to facilitate respectful but daring discussions. She has an Anthropology BSc, was born in Africa, and has travelled extensively.
Helen’s psychology masters enhances a range of mental health, learning disability, autism, epilepsy and dementia courses. These range from sessions on specific conditions, to accredited courses, such as Mental Health First Aid. She offers a clinical-level buccal Midazolam course that she has taught regularly, with a strong CPD record for all subjects.
Helen was a researcher on care outcomes measurement (for Outcome Star) and plans to find collaborators to pilot an evidence-based holistic intervention programme. (Get in contact to find out more). She has a passion for listening skills, and has studied and used an extensive range of therapeutic approaches, including trauma awareness, groupwork, reflective practice and supervision.
Engage Training is based in Stroud, but covers Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Somerset and South Wales, and nationally, online. Other associate trainers may occasionally be offered.
